Terms of Engagement

Doctex Research Division provides single-document structural analysis using Deterministic Structural Measurement (DSM). All structural scores, terminal states, and classifications are generated by the deterministic engine alone — no AI, no machine learning, no probabilistic inference. The measurements are non-AI. After the engine produces the structural report, a language model narrates the data into readable prose for the Executive Intelligence Brief. The narration does not alter, interpret, or override any measurement. The deliverable is a styled PDF containing structural density scores, terminal state assignments, topology classification, recursive density, structural class, and structural observations, all as defined in the Structural Lexicon and Classification System. Doctex does not provide domain-specific interpretation, consultation, comparative analysis, content evaluation, or recommendations. The report is the complete deliverable.

DSM reports are provided for the commissioning party's internal use. The commissioning party may not redistribute, resell, or publish the report without written agreement. The commissioning party may reference the report's findings in internal decision-making, provided that the findings are understood as structural measurements and not as evaluations of correctness, quality, or compliance.

The DSM instrument, its underlying methodology, algorithms, graph construction logic, measurement formulae, propagation mechanisms, and source code are the sole intellectual property of Doctex Research Division and are protected as trade secrets. The commissioning party receives a measurement report — not access to or rights in the measurement instrument. The report PDF is the property of the commissioning party upon delivery. Nothing in the commissioning relationship transfers any right, title, or interest in the DSM instrument or its constituent components.

The commissioning party agrees not to attempt to decompile, reverse-engineer, derive, or reconstruct the DSM methodology, algorithms, or measurement formulae from the report output. DSM output consists of numeric scores, terminal state labels, and structural classifications — values produced by a deterministic closed-source instrument. The commissioning party acknowledges that the report provides measurement results and does not disclose the means by which those results are obtained.

DSM is deterministic. Identical source text produces identical output. The document fingerprint (SHA-256 hash) included in every report verifies input identity. Resubmitting the same document will produce an identical report with an identical fingerprint. This is a feature of the instrument, not a guarantee of usefulness — the measurements describe structural properties, and the interpretation of those properties in the commissioning party's domain is the commissioning party's responsibility.

DSM measures structural properties of documents. It does not evaluate correctness, factual accuracy, argument validity, legal sufficiency, regulatory compliance, literary merit, or any other content-based quality. A structurally coherent document may contain errors. A structurally volatile document may be correct in every particular. Structural class, terminal state, and density scores describe how a document is built — nothing more. The commissioning party is solely responsible for interpreting structural measurements in their domain context.

Documents submitted for DSM analysis are processed by the engine and retained only as necessary for report generation. Submitted documents are not shared, published, or used for any purpose other than producing the commissioned report. The commissioning party's identity and the fact of the engagement are treated as confidential unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Doctex Research Division is currently operating as a research initiative. The DSM engine, Lexicon, Classification System, and Methodology are under active development. All materials are First Edition (July 2026). The pre-pilot designation reflects institutional maturity, not measurement quality. Commissioning parties during this phase receive the same measurement rigour as formal engagements.
